Digital quick design tool for gearboxes

The challenge

The portfolio of WITTENSTEIN alpha GmbH comprises more than 50,000 different gearboxes, offering the ideal product for every application in mechatronic drive technology. However, WITTENSTEIN alpha’s customers can easily lose track of this variety, especially when it comes to creating initial plans or prototypes and not all technical parameters are clear yet. To give machine designers an initial concrete overview, a digital product advisor should quickly and user-friendly guide them to the three most suitable gearboxes, even if the parameters are not yet well known. WITTENSTEIN alpha has succeeded in doing this with the cymex® select tool.

How we helped

With its in-depth industry and product expertise, WITTENSTEIN alpha developed a high-quality recommendation engine specifically for cymex® select. The specialists at WITTENSTEIN alpha had already created a prototype and click dummy for user validation of a UI concept.

At this point, XITASO joined the project as an implementation partner and created an easy-to-use web application with front and back ends. Here, XITASO was able to build on the existing concept and further optimise the user experience of the quick design tool.
