Using the asset administration shell (AAS) to create a standardized digital twin

The Asset Administration Shell (AAS) is a manufacturer-independent, industry-neutral standard for the digital twin of a physical asset  such as a machine or a component. It defines the structure and semantics of the data required for the digital representation of a physical object. We are your partner in the fiel of AAS.

An asset administration shell consists of various submodels that cover specific aspects of a physical asset and can be used by different manufacturers:

  • Identification: Information that uniquely identifies your asset.
  • Technical data: Important specifications and technical details.
  • Status information: Real-time data on the current status and operating parameters of your asset.
  • Lifecycle information: Historical and forecast data on the entire lifecycle of your asset.

XITASO is an active member of the Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA) and is actively involved in shaping the asset administration shell standard.

The Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA) promotes the development of the digital twin and brings together various industry stakeholders, such as  in order to develop common standards and best practices. In particular, the further development of the meta model and the API of the AAS, as well as the establishment of new submodels and their standardization, is being pursued jointly under the umbrella of the IDTA.

This includes, for example, core data, current operating data or specific documentation. 

 

QR code provides access to nameplate data

A scan of the QR code attached to the product provides the corresponding information on the smartphone or tablet. Data from a wide variety of sources can be integrated. Printed documentation is no longer necessary and saves production and distribution costs. Changes can be made easily, with immediate worldwide effect.
