Fast recognition of errors and increased comfort when servicing and repairing printing presses

The challenge

In a complex machine, the fastest possible reaction to error messages or delays is vital. For this purpose, a central body should be created where all the necessary information from the affected press converges to minimize the time required for troubleshooting, to increase availability and reduce costs. As part of its MAINTELLISENSE strategy, manroland Goss web systems therefore aimed to create an application that meets these requirements, with the MainPad.

How we helped

In close collaboration with manroland Goss web systems, XITASO has developed a user-friendly mobile application for Windows tablets that bundles all the necessary information and documentation for quick error detection and resolution. This reduces the time elapsing between the occurrence of a fault in complex systems and when it is repaired, as well as maximizing the comfort for the service technician. In addition to the development of an appealing design and user-friendly operation, the challenge was also to establish a direct, stable and secure connection to the presses.

MainPad – hub for all information

The functionalities of the MainPads not only include the display of press alarms and faults as well as the possibility to acknowledge them, but also allow direct access to the relevant information from the respective machine. In addition, a remote connection can be made to the TeleSupportCenter (TSC) and the press computer. Information and documents about the respective machine can be viewed at any time. The service technician can use the mobile maintenance tablet to communicate with the TSC directly from the affected press and to share photos and videos for error diagnosis. In addition, the customer’s own web store can be called up to order any required spare parts.

The MainPad is an important step within the MAINTELLISENSE strategy towards an intelligent press and is a user-friendly, all-in-one solution, thanks to the ability to combine with customer software.
