Promoting IoT innovations: XITASO adds its strength to the “MindSphere World e.V.” user organization

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the future of production. The quicker that industry seizes the opportunities created by the IoT, the better for Germany as a business location and for the international market. Innovations such as the open, cloud-based “MindSphere” IoT operating system from Siemens play an important role here. It provides developers the possibility of putting application scenarios into practice efficiently and with great flexibility. An approach which XITASO also supports and encourages: Since the spring of 2018, the Augsburg-based software and consultancy company has been a member of the global user organization “MindSphere World e.V.”.

“Particularly in globalized markets, it is increasingly important for companies to safeguard – or even expand – their competitiveness through IoT innovations,” notes Dr. Gunter Gehrke, Chief Sales Officer of XITASO GmbH. “With MindSphere, Siemens has created an open, cloud-based IoT platform which developers can use as a basis for the efficient design and implementation of their solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things.” The “Platform as a Service” delivers a scalable development environment with a native cloud interface – the ideal technical basis for implementing smart application scenarios in industry. Ulrich Huggenberger, CEO and founder of XITASO, explains further: “The exchange we actively take part in with other experts and thought leaders is strategically important for us as a company. Starting now, we are also underscoring this through our membership in MindSphere World e.V., where we aim to enrich further IoT development through our practical point of view.”

Innovative MindSphere concept performs convincingly in Siemens Challenge

Professional visitors were able to see what a concrete IoT application might look like at this year’s Hannover Messe: as one of the finalists of Siemens’ “MindSphere Open Space Challenge”, XITASO presented an innovative solution for a real business application scenario. The core here was software designed to motivate service technicians to collaborate more closely in order to solve problems and to share their accumulated, experience-based knowledge with their colleagues. This reduces service times and saves costs. As a result, the XITASO project team was able to convince the live audience in attendance: in the subsequent online vote, XITASO won first place thanks to its agile, interdisciplinary approach. The prize the company received for winning this audience award was an invitation to Berlin for the upcoming MindSphere Developer Conference.
