The challenge

Digitalisation presents developers with a wide range of challenges resulting from the individual needs and technology stacks of our clients’ companies. Legacy software in particular means developers have to quickly familiarise themselves with complex code structures, which is made more difficult by the large number of technologies. In view of the shortage of skilled workers, it is necessary to optimise efficiency in software development. AI tools can shorten the time required for training and speed up development work, while ensuring the security of customer data in cloud-based services. Nevertheless, it often remains unclear how the promised gains in productivity can actually be realised.

How we can help

To ensure the effective use of AI solutions in our software development, XITASO put together a cross-divisional task force. This task force consists of experts from the fields of development, research, law and IT, among others. The task force analysed various requirements and technology stacks in order to identify suitable AI tools. Through the targeted use of intelligent tools, we were able to significantly increase productivity in our projects and improve the quality of the software solutions delivered.

Improve productivity and quality with intelligent AI tooling

GitHub Copilot

GitHub Copilot is a coding assistant that can be integrated directly into integrated development environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio Code. It helps programmers by making code proposals based on context and previous input. Copilot is particularly useful if the customer uses Microsoft and seamless integration into the existing development environment is desired.

ChatXiPT

Our ChatXiPT is an AI-supported chatbot hosted in the Azure cloud and works without having to be directly integrated into the existing development environment. It offers a particularly high level of data security in order to fulfil strict regulatory requirements. The flexible use of different models and plug-ins via a common interface enables seamless integration into existing workflows.

Local coding assistent

For projects with strict data protection requirements, where data must not leave our XITASO network, we use a local coding assistant that runs on our own hardware within our network. Here, we can freely choose between various open source models and plugins for the preferred IDE, and also facilitate flexible seamless integration into our own or other tools.

 

92% of our developers consider the use of coding assistance tools to be important for completing programming tasks more quickly. The successful application of these technologies enables us to achieve significant time savings of up to 20%. We actively share the knowledge we have gained about the use of AI tools with our clients so that they too can benefit from these technologies.
