Practical-Oriented Degree Program: Informatik M.Sc.

In the program with an in-depth practical focus, you’ll perfectly combine theory and practice. You’ll apply the knowledge gained during your university studies to real-world projects during your practical training phases at the company. This way, you’ll learn not only why something works, but also how it works and how it’s done. During the 1.5 years of your master’s program, you’ll complete your practical training phases at XITASO during the breaks between semesters.

You can also write your master’s thesis in cooperation with XITASO; we always have exciting topics in the research area or from the project business. During your time at XITASO, you’ll work in an agile environment with a broad technology stack in interdisciplinary teams. This allows you to further deepen the practical knowledge you gained during your bachelor’s program while also being optimally prepared for the transition into professional life or a subsequent doctoral program.

Structure of the Master’s program with in-depth practical training and course content
The standard duration of study is 3 semesters. The application-oriented Master’s program in Computer Science consists of five main components: 

• scientific fundamentals,
• system architectures,
• specialization based on required electives,
• scientific research, and
• Master’s thesis.

Great importance is placed on the development of soft skills, particularly English proficiency in the technical and scientific fields.

• You will work as part of a team to develop complex applications, such as those in the web, cloud, or IoT sectors.
• You will handle individual tasks independently.
• You will join us in practicing agile software development through daily stand-ups, sprint reviews at the client site, and retrospectives with the support of our agile coaches.

• You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a comparable educational background and would now like to pursue a master’s degree in computer science (M.Sc.) at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.
• You have some practical experience with programming in C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• You have a good understanding of object-oriented programming.
• You have basic knowledge of version control, design patterns, testing, and SOLID principles.
• You enjoy and are interested in new technologies, software development methods, and principles.
• You work independently and take initiative.
• You are open-minded and enjoy working in a team.
• You have very good German and English skills (at least C1 level) to ensure clear and confident communication within the team and with our partners.
