B2B marketplace for the printing industry

Heavy metal e-commerce plattform “MARKET-X”

The challenge

The printing press manufacturer had the goal of expanding its online shop for spare parts into a B2B online marketplace for mechanical and plant engineering, with MARKET-X. MARKET-X is intended to offer suppliers a brand-neutral platform for their products and to enable customers to conveniently order spare and wear parts for printing presses with attractive price advantages as well as extensive services and consulting possibilities. A reliable development partner was sought in order to drive this transformation, integrate further features and sustainably improve performance.

manroland Goss web systems GmbH

The MARKET-X B2B marketplace is a brand of the manroland Goss Group – a leading provider of web offset printing solutions with headquarters in Augsburg and other locations in North and South America, Asia, Australia and Europe.

How we helped

Drawing on their many years of project experience in dealing with the renewal of existing systems, the experts at XITASO have analyzed the current status of the existing CMS and e-commerce solution in depth and developed a strategy for the renewal and improvement of the system from the inside out with the use of current technologies, such as React. In addition to the integration of new features and components, such as the SAP connection or the Tradebyte integration for the marketplace, the performance of the system could be significantly increased within a very short time.

MARKET-X

Thanks to fully automated order processing, MARKET-X enables convenient ordering of original spare and wear parts as well as authorized consumables around the clock, thus ensuring the maximum availability and productivity of presses and systems in the long term. The right products can be found quickly and easily via the free text search or machine-specific spare and wear parts catalogues. The marketplace functionalities of the MARKET-X can be connected directly to internal company ordering and processing systems. A company account with an integrated approval process can be used to create sub-accounts for employees with individual authorizations, compliant with the approval processes in the company. Tracking and reporting functions enable insight into the delivery status of current orders as well as the analysis of orders placed at any time.

Improved security

“Together with XITASO, we were able to advance MARKET-X as a B2B marketplace and significantly improve the performance of the system. In short, the system is faster, has fewer outages with shorter duration, which we can fix faster.”

The development process

XITASO has been entrusted with the further development of MARKET-X since 2018 and has first carried out a preliminary analysis of the current status and developed recommendations for action for the further procedure, together with the client. A DevOps infrastructure with automated deployment was set up in order to be able to bring new features and improvements into productive use within a very short time.

In order to further advance the transformation from a spare parts shop to a B2B marketplace, new features have been integrated, such as the integration of license management, Tradebyte integration and the SAP connection for close integration with order processing and logistics.
