Digitalisation is bringing about big changes within society and within business. As a provider of software and digitalisation services, we are at the very centre of these developments and are helping shape them. 

We understand very well the great responsibility that this places on us and we do our best to act accordingly – in the planning, design and implementation of our solutions as well as in how we go about our work on a daily basis. 

Economic sustainability

XITASO is a company that is structured and run based on the idea of sustainability while operating in a complex and highly dynamic business environment. We are working to ensure that the business will survive and be able to achieve long-term economic growth and success. This means security and the ability to plan ahead for both our employees and our customers.

Social
sustainability

We believe in a culture of collaborative, self-organised working. This approach means that provide space where people can develop to their full potential. It is of great importance to us that everyone can work both as part of the team and as a individual and that we provide an inspirational, healthy, and family-friendly working environment. We invest in further developing the skills of XITASO employees and are involved with various social projects in the form of sponsorships, donations and personal engagement. We reflect on our activities and act in accordance with ethical and moral standards and in the interests of society as a whole.

Ecological sustainability

As a business, we are aware of our responsibility in terms of the environment and our ecological footprint. We have been measuring our carbon footprint every year since 2020 and working hard to identify and actively take measures to reduce it. A XITASO community has been created to provide a space where all XITASO employees can put forward their own thoughts and ideas for achieving our goal of becoming a carbon-neutral company.

For us at XITASO, sustainability in the IT sector means above all using technology responsibly and with a view to the future. on our journey towards improving our ecological sustainability

2021

  • Launch of the internal task force ‘CO2 footprint of XITASO’
  • Start of the determination of the CO2 footprint (GHG Protocol Scope 1 + 2) for 2020 and 2019
    • Identification of the biggest levers: heat and electricity
    • Greatest savings potential through switch to green electricity at largest site in Augsburg (implemented in July 2022)

2022

  • Foundation of ‘XECO’ as an official community to promote sustainability issues within XITASO
  • Saving electricity: Replacement of old neon tubes at largest site in Augsburg with more energy-efficient LEDs
  • Optimised heating concept: Combination of radiators (district heating) and air conditioning (climate-neutral heat pumps) to heat the offices

2023

  • Installation of a photovoltaic system at the Augsburg Austraße site
  • Introduction of a sustainability checklist for the selection of new office locations

2024

  • Green IT – Start of consideration of sustainability aspects in software development
  • Invitation of an external speaker for further training of XITASOnians
    • Attendance of lectures and training courses to share the knowledge gained with the community within the company
    • Integration of continuous CO2 emissions measurement into controlling
  • Adaptation of travel guidelines with regard to more climate-friendly travel
    • Since 2023, gradual transition to the use of electric cars as company cars
    • Call to avoid air travel wherever possible
    • Organisation of joint travel to events
    • Offer of subsidies for e.g. job bikes or rail cards

2025

  • Certification according to ISO 14001 (environmental management system)
  • Analysis of our travel and commuting behaviour (Scope 3 of the GHG Protocol)
    • Data collection and derivation of measures in progress
    • At our Leipzig and Berlin locations, the majority of employees commute to the office by public transport or bicycle.
